Friday - Zendaladay!

Today I felt like celebrating something. No birthday around no special events. Just give myself the opportunity to work on a zendalatile celebrating Friday. Here it is:

The patterns appearing are: Mooka, Tipple, Nipa, Quabog (all Zt) and Lenche (mine). I very seldom use gold in my tiles but today I felt like it was the right thing to do. Working on a Zendala is very relazing. But I admit it is also sometimes frustrating. It happens quite often I come to a point working on a Zendala when I have doubts about what I am doing and start to think of the result instead of the process which means loosing my focus. It doesn´t happen very often working on an ordinary tile 8,9x8,9. But a Zendala takes more time for me to do and then unwanted thoughts may pop up during the process. By now I have learned telling myself, when this happens, just go on knowing that my doubts just are reminders that I´m not finished yet! And it works!

So here is my Friday Zendala. Finished. Doubts forgotten.

I am the Diva´s challenge; Guest Jessica Davies

From now and a couple of weeks Laura has invited guests to continue with the weekly challenge. First out is Jessica Davies with a challenge: Tangled hearts. This is my first entry:

I go on with my recycling of old watercolorpaintings. Can you see the heart? Of this particular piece I ought to have taken a before-pic! The reason is; I thought it was a very ugly piece! But I could see a little heart-shape in the middle and from that I could go on tangling! I used the patterns: Phroz (Lynn Shelton Mead), Fassett (Lynn Shelton Mead), LO´s (mine), Knase (Zt), Golden Tipple (Zt) and Zinger (Zt). The Zinger-part wasn´t Zinger from the start, just small bows to make a movement, but all of a sudden Zinger had to come out of that! The painting underneath worked well as a string. I am  happy to see the ugliness turned into this! It is like magic!

Diva´s challenge UMT 320: Dansk

I have met Dansk before but not tried it. At the first sight it is similar to a lot of other patterns done with auras. But as I tried it this time I found out it can be a quite useful pattern! I started doing it on a stone I found on our vacation up in the mountains!

The stone to the left is with Dansk, the one to the right is with Ziggle (Chase Messineo) and some golden Tipple (Zt).

Today I finished my tile on a tile from recycled watercolor-painting:

I used Dansk (Margaret Bremner), Wheelz (Joyce Block), Poke Root (Zt) and Poke Leaf (Zt). The string is the background watercolorpainting.

IAST 193

My first post after a long time to Adele Bruno´s challenge IAST = it´s a string thing. This challenge is also a tribute to Lily Moon. You can see why on Lily´s blog here. Lily is one of those bright shining stars on the sky of zentangle. Once you have seen her art you´ll know why. She is outstanding and a great inspiration to tanglers all over the world. Ofcourse I wanted to participate in this IAST. Here is my entry:

I choose to work on a rennaisance tile this time. To me it is very much Lily Moon! When I first saw her art it was on rennaisance tiles and I was absolutely stunned. I wanted to try it and ordered these tiles from U.S. That was quite long ago now.

The tangles I have used are some of my favourites from Lily Moon: Drogon, Andante, Reel and fragments from Amphora. I also used some golden Tipple. Doing this I was thinking of her and hoping she will find some light in darkness.

Amanda Day - Earth Day

I am the Diva´s challenge no. 313 is for celebrating Earth Day or Amanda Day. Laura tells about her son Chewie when he was four years old, he suggested that the Earth should be named Amanda. We are supposed to make our challenge for this Day and Laura herself used package material for her tangle. I love the recycling idea in art as well as in living so I made one tile of paperboard from a box I hadn´t thrown away. Here it is:

I used black micron, gold and white Gellypen, white charcoalpen, sepia fineliner and distress markers for shading. The patterns are: Wud (Joni Feddersen), Fun Bee (Beate Winkler), Papz (mine), Iris (mine), Flux (Zt), Tipple (Zt) and Celtic Knot which I wrote about in my last post. It was fun. I will do more recycling! Just for fun!

Zendala again

There are time between my zendalas.  I haven´t done many of them. but they are what I call double-up-zentangle. Lot of zen and lot of relaxation. To go into  a zendala and be there every stroke at a time, that also means I have to have time to do it, since it take a least one day for me to finish it. I have done 2 zendalas quite fast, but I made them for challenges and as I see it now, they didn´t work in the same way.

I started this zendala 28th of March on a rennaisance tile and had to take a break before it was finished because of our two dogs needing their evening-walk. So I left it to rest over the night and finished it yesterday morning as soon as I could grab my pens.

I am happy I did instead of forcing myself to finish it late at night when I ought to go to sleep! It was a special moment to do this. I am not into doing mandalas. I don´t use pre-strung tiles. The round empty tile is good enough but I have to be in the moment and remember the steps in the process. Once started it is just to go with the flow. Here I started with Way Bop, which I used as a string. The funny thing is that I didn´t love Way Bop at the beginning of our relationship, but in the zendala it is perfect. And now I think I start to love it! The other patterns are Arukas, Pokeroot, Paradox, Trio (Hanny Nura), Antidots (Anita Roby-Lavery) and Archer (Peg Farmer).

I want to explore more about zendalas. It would be so cool to be able to go to a class where the zendala is in focus. But till that will be reality I have to work on it myself and do my own experiences. I just love it.

The 11th and 12th Day of 3Zs

Today was the 12th Day of 3Zs. The tangle for today was Crazy Huggins. With 12 tangles it is pretty crowded. But I had made up my mind that on the last day in this game all tangles should be present. It was a true challenge. Here is my final mosaic:

I am not kidding. They are all in. But you have to look close to see some of them. The tangles are from Day one: Tripoli, Diva Dance, Shattuck, Marasu, Tipple with gold, Molygon, Knightsbridge, Pokeleaf, Auraknot, Drawings, Icanthis, Crazy Huggins.

Two tangles are new from the Zentangle headquarter, Drawings and Icanthis.

The 11th Day was yesterday. Here is the 11th mosaic:

And the 11th 3Zs:

On the 11th Day Molygon and Auraknot took a rest. The tile felt too crowded for them to be comfortable. But they enjoyed watching!

It was quite an adventure to take part of this game and a lot of fun. I think I haven´t used 12 tangles in one tile before and this is on 3Z! It is smaller than the ordinary tiles! Don´t know if I will do it again, it is breathtaking, like running a Marathon or something. Maybe next year though if there will come another 12 Days!

On the 10th Day: a new tangle!

On the 10th Day Bijou brought a new tangle; Drawings! It is a fun and magical tangle. It is hard to stop it!

I bet that´s why Marasu went shy and almost hide himself in the background. That is very unusual, Marasu is very dominant and used to be in focus! All are in: Tripoli, Shattuck, Diva Dance, Marasu, Knightsbridge, Tipple, Molygon, Pokeleaf, Auraknot and Drawings!

I had to go on with Drawings. Here it is with Auraknot and a Zengem:

Thisone might be for a Christmascard I belive. Drawings just went on and also took place in my daily tile:

Now I have come to string 208, which happens to be my first string on Tanglepattern.com!The patterns are: Drawing, Pokeleaf, Jetties, Hollibaugh, Shattuck and Laced (Mary Elisabeth Martin). I was quite happywith the outcome!

On the Eight and Ninth Day

Now it is getting crowded! But here it is. The Ninth Day:

Bijou now brought Auraknot after having a rest. I had to change the backgroundpaper, the red one wasn´t big enough.

The Eight Day Bijou brought Pokeleaf:

Besides the game I made my Daily tile with Aura Leah (Carla du Preez):

String 207 (Cheryl Stock). Hollibaugh, Tipple and Beadline (Margaret Bremner) also joined. Aura Leah is light and airy and very easy to learn.  I have used it a lot and will come back to it.

On the sixth and seventh day...

On the Sixth Day Molygon arrived....:

On the Seventh Day Knightsbridge took over the space:

Go and check the Zentangle Blog! There are things happening!

On the fifth day...

Bijou came with golden Tipple!

Gold is very striking. It easily takes over the place. But doing it like this I like it very much! The adventure goes on...

Yesterday evening I took a break from Christmasrelated things and went for string 204 (Mei Hua Teng).

I used Hollibaugh, Nipa, Tipple and Crescent moon. I also tried a Fragment from the BOOK: W7.
