25th-30th of June and IAST 249

Arriving home safely from a trip to Östhammar, where we had a wonderful workshop with amazing people, I am able to post again! I start with the calendar:

The summer is in a mighty bloom and this shows in my calendar too! I started with Arc Flower (JJ La Barbera)- a long time no seen, I almost forgot how much I appreciate this pattern! Then I ran into Mumsy (Sandy Steen Bartholomew), with some Purdy (Margaret Bremner) and then Tri-Bee (Beate Winkler).

On the 28th another flowerlike pattern was the starter: Cyme (Zt). And Cyme went into Daniel Lamothe´s Dreamcatcher! On the 29th I came to Östhammar and of course there was a lot of Rock´n Roll going on!! Giving the birth to Undu (Daniel Lamothe) and Asian Fans (Suzanne McNeill) and then ending with Mookas and Tipple.

I just have to show you the results from the workshop, since it was so lovely! Here are the pics:

Yesterday, before I started my travel back home, Gerd Vading, my hostess and I made a trip to an exhibition outside town. There I saw some wonderful pictures made by two participants of the workshop! These went straight into my heart:

Marja Forsberg has made a portrait of Lars Lerin (a Swedish great artist of watercolor). It is a weave, and it has so much of life in it! Here is a closeup:

And her son Leif Forsberg is a great painter. You can see for yourself:

I love the color and the unique expression in these two paintings!

Well, back home I sat down doing the challenge from Adele this week. It is challenge 249 and it is all about getting Abeko (Lynn Shelton Mead) and the Diva Dance into a string.

The way it went was a little surprise to me, the Abeko totally took care of the rocking Diva Dance! I loved that!

22nd-24th of April and some more tangling

Now I start to belive Spring is here to stay! Just one snowpack outside our house is to be seen, but that one has been hughe, now our dogs can jump over it! Flux is a tangle that speaks about growth and brings a promise of a warmer season to come! I love this time every year and it is worth everything!

A couple of days ago I visited a friend of mine and she wanted to know about the zentangle method. I brought her some of my books, some tiles, pens and a pencil. We had a wonderful evening tangling.
I always love to go back to basics, to basic patterns, it is always so relaxing and I always feel happy doing it.

Nipa, Crescent Moon and Knightsbridge. Nothing more is to be needed.

Today I made this tile:

Boucle (Cherryl Moote) is the focustangle in Square One. Such a lovely one to draw. It reminds me of Printemps ofcourse. Here together with Shattuck, Maze, Flux and Tipple, all Zt. I am happy how this came together. It has some Spring in it!

Moowing ooon.

Yesterday we had a tangler-gettogether-event here were I live in Gärdebyn. We had a great time and here is the outcome:

Today I am laid-back and not doing much, but I wanted to try Moowa (Anya Ipsen), the focus-tangle in Square One.

Moowa is moving around the space going it´s own directions with string 193 (Barbara Finwall)! Printemps, Tipple and a Zengem also showed up. Moowa reminds me of a wave or long fingers or a special mushroom I know. There are a lots of possibilities to add embellishments or transform it into other tangles. It will be interesting to see what is coming up in Square One when tanglers use this!

Gettogether

Is it possible to match two very different patterns in a happy marriage? That was my personal challenge today using string 186. The Diva´s challenge this week is UMT, which stand for Use My Tangle. The tangle is EAXY from Nadine Roller. I decided to use EAXY together with my favourite for this week, Fassett (Lynn Shelton Mead).

This is actually my second try, not my first. The first one is not to be shown yet. It went too far in shading and to save it i colored it but even if I had a relaxing moment doing it I must admit I am much more satisfied with the second one in all aspects. I will have to give the first one a remake of some kind but as for now it is resting in my things-to-go-on-with-pile.

To get these patterns together in a way that gives both equal dignity wasn´t the easy way. But breathing, making it slowly and let the string guide was what I concentrated on. And I do love the final outcome!

More moving and travelling tangles!

Today I was spending a lot of time sitting in the backseat of our car. At my right side I had our dog in her cage. So I took the chance to tangle, since there wasn´t much else to do. The Diva´s challenge a couple of weeks ago was like that and I did like to do it in a situation when I really couldn´t think of perfectionism or other silly stuff. As the Diva has a challenging pattern this week, Knightstar (Daniel Lamothe), it is stuck in my mind and it was relly something else to do it like this!

It is from my sketchbook, since that was what I had brought with me. It was harder to make this in the car than in the bus. Much more bumpy. The patterns are: Florz, Crescent moon, Ruutz (Eni Oken), Knightstar (Daniel Lamothe) and O (Adele Bruno). This was on our way to Borlänge. On the way back home I made another:

This is for IAST´s 3 celebration. I liked the way it went and I like the patterns Adele has chosen for this special occasion: Orbs-de-la-Dee (Anneke van Dam), O (Adele Bruno), Onomato and Opus.

This day started with an extraordinary surprise! When I opened my FB I found that Sandy Kelley Jones already had finished the tile I sent to her! It made me so happy to see this. What she added was like a continuing movement from what I started with. Without the beforepic it would be difficult to know where the beginning is! Here is the result!

Before:

After:

I love this outcome! It is flowing so gently. The patterns are:
Leaflet (Helen Williams), Flux, Tripoli, Diva Dance and Tipple.
Thank´s once again Sandy! So glad we did this!

Traveling Tangles Project

There is a project going on in a FB-group. I don´t think this will stay in a group. I belive it will be spread among tanglers over the planet! It is fun and it is conecting people that would never have spoke to eachother! The name Traveling Tangle is exactly what it is. I start a tile with something and send it by ordinary mail to somone somewhere. Someone finish the tile and publish it in the FB-group. Ofcourse it could be published anywhere. The group is a closed group which means you have to be let in by the moderator Jennifer Stephanie. If you don´t want to join, the idea is great and can grow and be spread wherever it happens.

The last traveling tangle I received came from Czt Sandy Kelly Jones. It was a happy tangle-post and when I got it I wasn´t in a happy mood. To receive this, made the day change into something hopefull! I got it late in the afternoon. I looked at it and wanted to start at once. But I said to myself to wait a little, let it rest over the night at least. This is what it looked like:

I waited till the next morning (yesterday), had my breakfast, brushed my teeth and then started tangeling. Here is the beforepic:

The simplicity of the lines and the fact that this wasn´t a finished tile really got me on the go. This is a very good example of a traveling tangle that works and just want to go on and on! A worked through pattern doesn´t give you that opportunity! But you got to have courage and trust when you leave it to the one who receives it not just to go on tangeling but also to finish it! Thats why I am convinced that Sandy is an exellent teacher! I think I learned something from this. I will be careful with the tangles I send on, that they are so open as possible for further development! Thank´s Sandy for this knowledge. It is not new to me, this is what I have tried to do when I have been teaching students through the years. Not to give to much but give enough! Now I got this knowledge back from a new angle. I am greatful for that! Here is what happened:

It is not about skills or anything like planning. It is about being in it and let things grow. I had such a great moment and I am grateful for that. This tile I will frame and keep in sight as a reminder to myself what tangeling is all about.

Tanglers-get-together

Yesterday we were 4 tanglers in Gärdebyn, Rättvik. We were tangeling all day and had a wonderful time in Bystugan. A lot of talking, laughing and creativeness!
As three of us had not tangled too much before, we worked with basic patterns:

Here are the happy tanglers except me who took the picture:

From left to right: Gabriella, Margaret and Gerd. Margaret and Gerd came all the way from Uppsala by train! So much fun this wonderful tangeling saturday! Hope we meet again having a day like this!
