One more for the Divas Amandaday-challenge

I love recycling. I use it very much in my art. So I wanted to make one more for Earth Day and for the Diva´s challenge this week. When I have done something that I don´t like at the moment, I don´t throw it away.  I keep it for further use. I have some watercolors kept in a pile and now I cut up one (on heavyweight watercolor-paper)  in tile-size and tangled on it! As it was a quite big watercolor-painting, I have a lot of tiles from this! Here is the first one:

The surface is not as smooth as on original tiles but it worked and I get a good feeling to remake an old watercolor-painting in this way!

The patterns are: 5C Aura (Ina Sonnenmoser), Andromeda (Lily Moon), Lealad (Lily Moon) and something that is the beginning of Amphora (Lily Moon).

28th, 29th and 30th of April for Lily Moon

In Square One the focus is on the patterns of Lily Moon.Lily Moon is such a great tangler and one of the administrators of Square One. Her patterns are beautiful and I have used most of them in my tangeling journey. There is a dark reason for this focus - Lily is in a situation noone wants to be in right now and Chris Titus took this initiative since tangeling also is a way to bring strength and energy. In this way Chris invited tanglers all over the world to send their thoughts or/and prayers to Lily. It is a wonderful idea.

My last three days I have focused on this task. A freehand penciled heart as a string. Under the tangled hearts there are wishes penciled from me for Lily. I wish her strength, peace, comfort and balance.

28th of April: Andromeda and Andante by Lily Moon + Balloya (Anya Lothrop) and Fescu.
29th of April: Andromeda an Amphora by Lily Moon
30th of April: Drogon and Lealad by Lily Moon.

25th, 26th and 27th of April + Dingbatz

Here are my latest calendar page:

25th of April: Balloya (Anya Lothrop), 5CAura (Ina Sonnenmoser), Cubine and Pokeroot.
26th of April: Nipa, flec (Jem Miller) and Fassett (Lynn Shelton Mead).
27th of April: Flec (Jem Miller) and Weben Idi Lowenherz.

I use to begin my day with the calendar. These last three days I did at my breakfasttable. A kind of kitchen-table-tangle!

Talking about that, there is a new Kitchen-table-tangle video on Youtube! and it is all about Dingbatz. Before I watched this video I had no idea what Dingbatz was. As I saw it I had to try it and it was great fun. I used ATC-size this time:

5C Wrapped (Ina Sonnenmoser) and something Mookish and perfs. This took not much time to do and I liked it very much.

Amanda Day - Earth Day

I am the Diva´s challenge no. 313 is for celebrating Earth Day or Amanda Day. Laura tells about her son Chewie when he was four years old, he suggested that the Earth should be named Amanda. We are supposed to make our challenge for this Day and Laura herself used package material for her tangle. I love the recycling idea in art as well as in living so I made one tile of paperboard from a box I hadn´t thrown away. Here it is:

I used black micron, gold and white Gellypen, white charcoalpen, sepia fineliner and distress markers for shading. The patterns are: Wud (Joni Feddersen), Fun Bee (Beate Winkler), Papz (mine), Iris (mine), Flux (Zt), Tipple (Zt) and Celtic Knot which I wrote about in my last post. It was fun. I will do more recycling! Just for fun!

22nd, 23d and 24th of April and something about Celtic Knots

Here is my calenderpage from today:

It is a lot of growing in it. It might be the spring coming. The notes:

22nd of April: Started of with Praa, a new pattern from Simone Menzel and then I went on with Papz, my own new one.

23d of April: Papz, Fun Bee (Beate Winkler), Meer, Edgar (Jody Genovese) Fun Bee is the focustangle in Square One and it sure gives an airy feeling to the rest! It also reminds me of the Opera Aida, by Verdi, that takes place in ancient Egypt!

24th of April: Tonight as I couldn´t sleep I went to Lynn Shelton Mead´s blog and her last post is about Celtic Knots. Who hasn´t got a fascination for Celtic Knot´s? I have tried to draw them many times, but it hasn´t been uncomplicated. I haven´t found celtic knots being useful in tangeling before. So I´ve dropped it. But Lynn shows a way to think about thise beautiful patterns that makes them work as tangles! I had to try it, so I tried it with more Fun Bees, a little Papz, Tipple and Fescu with Echoing lines (inspired by Melinda Barlow). It was great fun to do so I continued doing it the same way on an ordinary tile, using more Fun Bees and Beadlines too:

And yes it still works as a tangle! I will play with this more for sure! Thank´s to Lynn, who opened a door I thought was closed!

Iris meets Praa

I want to try my patterns in a context with other patterns. Today I played with Iris and Praa (Simone Menzel). I used Iris in the airy version.

As Praa also is an airy and light pattern it might not have been the first choice of a duotangle, but I think it worked! A dewdrop landed since I used a string that wanted this!

19th, 20th and 21st of April

My calender for the last tree days:

April 19th: Barquillos (Maria Tovar) and some Dewdrops. Barquillos is a lovely one-stroke pattern and fun to do. I first made it January 11-12, as I found it in Ela Riegers Musterquelle

April 20th: My new pattern Iris with Barquillos and Zander (Zt).

April 21st: I tried Simone Menzels new pattern Praa today. I went me out of hand but I kind of like it anyway. I Barquilled Papz (mine) in the background. There is also Aaah to be found.

Spilling Coffee

I am the Diva´s challenge this week is about spilling something and use it as a string. This is not the first challenge of this kind and I guess it will not be the last. There is one tangler I know of that is the master of doing things out of spilling. Most of the time coffee. That is Michelle Wynne. Go to her blog and have a look! As I am a Virgo, I don´t like to spill at all! My first thaught was, I won´t do this challenge, but then I changed my mind, remembering I did like the outcome last time I did it! So here is my entry:

I spilled coffee. Or to be true, I brought my glass of coffee, checked that there was coffee on the outside on the bottom and then I just put it on the tile, not once but three times. When it was dry I went on tangling. Maryhill (Betsy Wilson), Beadline (Margaret Bremner), Papz (mine), Fescu, Printemps and Crescent Moon. Same magic happened as last time I did this. The outcome was so unexpected. I loved it! I loved the way tangling took me away out of planning into the relaxed mood not worrying about anything. Thank´s Laura for this challenge!

2nd New Pattern: Iris

There are so many patterns going around. I haven´t done any for a long time now. But I have been thinking and drawing in my sketchbook a lot. As I made a celebration-pattern for my father this morning I decided to go on with a pattern I have been thinking of for some time now. It is a kind of grid-pattern. It is designed with our youngest little dog in mind. She is obidient, she is very clever and loves to work! She is also very playful with a lot of happiness around her. Here is her pattern!

Hope you will enjoy it!

New pattern - Papz!

Today is my father´s 88th birthday! To honor him I came up with a new pattern: Papz. I wanted it to be easy to learn, but it should have a strong approach. Hope you will enjoy it! Here are the steps:

16th, 17th and 18th of April

This page starts with the Ressurexion Day! And yes there is the empty tomb!:)

16th of April: Trio (Hanny Nura), Trifle and Beadlines (Margaret Bremner), Cubine, Tipple, and Fescu with Echoing lines.

17th of april: Weben (Idi Lowenherz, Cubine, Pokeroot and Printemps.

18th of April: Weben (Idi L.), Barquillos (Maria Tovar), Balloya (Anya Lothrop), 5CAura (Ina Sonnenmoser), Wheelz (Joyce Block) and Pokeroot.

Weben is a new favourite of mine I think. One thing about this last page. It is so crowded. Lots of tangles and the open spaces, where are they? Maybe they´ll show up some day.....

Weben - a monotangle

Weben (Idi Lowenherz) is an easy to learn tangle. I did go for it today.

I used a simple string and as I worked on it I just let it go. It is a piece of imperfection but imperfection as I love it. There are oopses and they are welcome. I felt very relaxed doing this. No judging. No planning. Just go for it.

Diva´s challenge no 311

I made a try doing the Divas challenge 311 on freehand. As I found out a very geometrical pattern built upon squares was the focustangle in Square One I knew this was the way to try it. Weben (Idi Lowenherz) is a new pattern to me and this is my first attempt on it ever.

Maryhill (Betsy Wilson) is the circular pattern, which I haven´t done for some time now, but the pattern in itself makes a circle and then it works as a Circle-Square-String-theory for me like this! I think I will do some more Weben, I have in mind this is a pattern with possibilities!

13th, 14th and 15th of April

This week Eastern is celebrated all over the world. Of course this affects the tangling as well. I use to sing with the church-choir a lot this special week. But this year I caught a nasty cold that has taken away my voice badly. Not one note has come out of my troat! But I have done some tangeling in my calendar!

No planning. But a lot of influences from Melinda Barlow´s videos on YouTube!

13th of April: 5C Aura by Ina Sonnenmoser.
14th of April: Balloya by Anya Lothrop, Beadlines by Margaret Bremner, Printemps, Mooka, Tipple, Fescu and Flux, all Zt.
15th of April: 5C Wrapped and 5C Aura, both by Ina Sonnenmoser. Then some tiny Black Perlz and Fescu with Echoing lines.

As I looked on this page I could see in what way Eastern has affected it! Thursday was quite calm (I had some fever) and the black star down in the bottom must symbolize Judas leaving the others at the last supper. It wasn´t my intention to make it black but it went that way. Friday, "Långfredag" in Swedish and Good Friday in English: It went in such a dramatic way. I started with the Balloya as I had watched Melinda Barlow´s video. That pattern I had seen before but it didn´t attract me before watching her doing it. There are crosses everywhere! Today the 15th, is the day after crucifixion and everything has changed. The diciples are afraid, chocked not knowing what to do or where to go, so they stayed close to eachother.

My point in writing this is, weather I like it or not, or weather you like it or not, Tangeling brings out into the light what is affecting me/you at the moment. It is not always obvious but it is more there then one can recognize at the first glance.

Circle-Square-String Theory

I am the Diva´s challenge this week is about Circle-Square-String-Theory. This is the Divine Geometry! I do love Geometry. That was the part of mathematics in school I felt motivation to learn and I also in a strange way was good at it! I could sit and draw triangles, Squares and Circles for a very long time trying to figure out the way they worked together. I wanted them to be exact to be good enough. So for this challenge I did use a stencil for the circle and a ruler for the Square. Just to get back to that state of mind I used to be in doing such things at school. I worked on a 3Z since I also wanted the triangle to be present!

I won´t use those things regularly doing zentangle since I do like the freehand nonperfectional way to do it! But here it is with the patterns 5C Aura by Ina Sonnenmoser and Tipple (Zt). I found 5C Aura at Melinda Barlows blog here and I did like the pattern at once. So easy to learn and so much zen doing it! Thank´s Melinda!

String 249 and 250!

The last strings from tanglepatterns.com are 249 and 250. The end of my string project. It has been so fun doing this! I hope Linda Farmer will publish more strings after this! This pics are scanned, since I now think I can manage my scanner in a better way and the result is ok.

For string 249 I used Pico (Staub Korn), fragments B4, F7 and Q7 from zentangle Primer.

For string 250 I used Orange Arc (Sandra Strait), Meer (zt) and Vitruvius (zt).

10th -12th of April

Three more days done in the calendar! Here they come:

I hought I would go into a more organized way, maybe work on some idea about reticula and fragments or something. But the calendar wants something else, no planning here!

Monday 10th I remembered a fun pattern, Pop cloud by Carla du Prez and I had a true relaxing moment doing this followed by Frunky (Katharina Königsbauer-Kolb) and Tipple (zt).

Tuesday 11th I went to another pattern I know I wanted to explore when it first came up, but actually never did. Wall Break (Tina Kirchhübel, is the one and I still like it very much. Some Bronxcherries, Knightsbridge and Tipple followed with Abeko (Lynn Shelton Mead.

Wednesday 12th I went on with Wall Break, Frunky, Hollibaugh and Tipple.

Frunky Diva´s challenge

I am not joking when I say I got Frunky this time by the Diva´s challenge! I just couldn´t stop doing this pattern from Katharina Königsbauer-Kolb! I tried it on black with Meringue (Kelley Kelly) and some Tipple....

I tried it on a little Bijou with Striping......

and finally on an original white tile with Joki (Kim Arts-Bruins).

4th - 9th of april and the Diva´s challenge

There are a lot of Grids. And Grids that can be used as Reticulas. Maybe it is the way you think of it that makes the difference? One definition is that a Reticula is always drawn with the pen, not the pencil. But a grid can be drawn with a pencil or a pen. That is confusing I think.

4th of April: I picked up Daniel Lamothe´s Knightstar, a pattern I first learned from the Diva I think. Working with it I did fall in love with the pattern though first I found it a little bit difficult or too much high-focus. Until I experienced that this pattern was an excellent way to learn to see the oopses as new possibilities! I haven´t done it for a while, but looking through my sketchbooks I stumbled over it and tried it again. Now I put it into a Reticula from the Zentangle Primer, but still I kept the pattern not as a fragment but as I learned it from the start.

5th of April: Now I was thinking Knightstar and then I went into Merryweather by Sandy Hunter, a pattern in a square-grid, that I loved from the start.

6th of April: Lovely Sindoo from Sharon Robinson completed three days of grids and reticulas.

7th of April: This day was a day of sorrow and/or anger for most people in Sweden. A terrorist attack in the heart of Stockholm occured when a lot of ordinary people were strolling around, shopping and whatever. A lunatic drove a truck into the crowd. The result of this did affect everyone I know. I tried to focus on some tangling and choose to go to the focustangle of Square One: Joki by Kim Arts Bruins.

8th of April: I went to church and to the church-choir. We sang "Crucifixtion" by John Steiner. It was so comforting to do so and the whole choir just sang from their hearts which made it to a special musical moment we won´t forget.

Tangles for the day: Joki, and the Diva´s challenge this week: Frunky (Katharina Königsbauer-Kolb). A lovely tangle! Thank´s to Laura Harms for introducing it to us!

9th of April: I went on with Joki and Frunky today and Trifle (Margaret Bremner) joined and some Striping.

22d of March - 3d of April

I haven´t published for over a week since I have been in Östhammar for my exhibiton. That doesn´t mean I haven´t tangled! My calender is my friend by now and here the pages are:

I hope you can follow my notes, since I won´t write them once again. Having an art-show can be ups and downs and an little stressful sometimes. Then the calendar has been wonderful to go to!
