22nd-24th of August and IAST257

There are round boxes! Hats often comes in round boxes. Chocolate might also. Sometimes the lid is translucent too! Often they also appear with beautiful ribbons. So the last three days I made the boxes round. The patterns which appears are: Printemps (Zt) Arcflower (JJ La Barbera), Zenribbon with fragment K3 and a fragment of my own, Lollywimple (Sandy Hunter) and Well well well (Zt). I wanted the surrounding to be black but I also knew that too much black on the calendarpage would bleed through so I just gave it one layer. First I didn´t like the striped effect but then I heard from some friends this added something to the page and now I kind of like it as it came out. I also go a very good tip from Sue Zanker how to prevent the bleeding and get it all really black: Go back on the blackened surface with a soft blac colorpencil and work it in! I will sure try that next time I do something like this!

IAST 257 is all about a recent published pattern, Twilight,  by Jody Genovese. Here is my first take on it (not my last I belive):

Twilight reminds me of a couple of other patterns, Footlight and Munchin f.ex. Only straight lines this time. Straight lines are interesting in another way than curved lines and sometimes I love to celebrate the straight ones! Not using rulers or anything else then my free hand ofcourse. It is a lot of zen in drawing a line slowly, breath and stay focused. The lines are not perfect and shouldn´t be. I like it this way!

There are spectacular skies in the evenings here now! Last nights dogwalk gave me this:

A little bit like Twilight.....

Calendar 22nd-24th of July

We haven´t had a summer like this during my liftime. It is all about the heat in July and our forrests that are on fire. I spend most of my time in the studio, tangling and painting. I am happy I can do this. The summertangles -18 is a fun prompt to follow, I learn some new patterns and I am pleased doing it in my calendar.

22nd: A pattern new to me, Bwiya (Anne Marks). I liked this one very much.
23d: Gingham (Margaret Bremner). I have done it before but forgotten all about it. Now I think I won´t forget it, it is so nice to draw.
24th: Tranzending! I do like this technique a lot. It is a way to remake old pieces ofcourse, but it is also a tremendous technique to make things special and interesting doing basic tangling! Here you can see how Rick and Maria demonstrates this!

16th-18th of January and Diva challenge continued!

I like the idea of using the calendar as a resource. I continued using Lori Byerly´s patterns for the last three days: 3 To Go, Bublz, Abakus, Flip Flop, Paki and Off Key. I find these pattern so interesting, because they are all individuals, all very special, easy to learn and very relaxing to do. I love them.

I couldn´t keep my hands off going further with the Diva´s challenge. So here is my process for the next one:

My pencil-sharpener, the lid of my Bijou-box, and my scissors. Here is the finished tile on tan surface:

Patterns: Chain Gain (Aleesha Sattva), Organic (Sayantika Ray), Irradial (Tomàs Padrós), Shiraz (Linda Farmer), Tipple and Striping. Hm. Couldn´t help smiling as I saw the face!

The Diva´s challenge no. 347

This time Laura Harms asked us to just grab something and use it for a string (tracing it). So I found a roll of scotch in a holder fitting on my tile. Here it is:

I had some fun using Lori Byerly´s patterns: Gr8, Paki and Mashed. Then I had to try some tranzending on it too. I loved to do this challenge, since I feel a little stuck doing my strings in the same style all the time! Thank´s Laura, this was perfect match with me right now!

The Diva is back! Challenge no 332!

Laura Harms is back after what seem like a wonderful and fun vacation. She starts of with a fun challenge: 2 Squares. That´s it. I have tried to make som Eco-printed tiles the last weeks. Som of them were printed on both sides and that wasn´t optimal, since I have to choose which side of the tile I prefer! I had made a mess on one of them and put it aside not knowing what to do about it. So I turned it and let the print guide were to draw the squares. It was fun!

This time I regret I didn´t take a before-pic! But I was too eager to get started so I forgot all about it. Yes, I did try some tranzending too, which worked out this way. I am happy about the process in this tile, since the planning was none and the guidance was the surface with marks from leaves, and some other stuff. The patterns; Mooka, Nipa, Indyrella, O (Adele Bruno) and Fragment D11.

22nd, 23rd and 24th of August

Spoken is not finished with me. I guess we have to make friends first! It is funny, now I see something else in this pattern and I start to really enjoy it! Today as I made 24th, I was having teatime too and I spilled from the teapot on the 23rd! As it is no misstakes in zentangle I had to do something about this! I had watched Rick Roberts demonstrating tranzending on a video and decided to give it a try. I am surprised of what came out! Love it! the other patterns on the page are Tripoli, Moka, Arukas and Tipple, all Zt.
