Add some drama

This week the Diva has a relly interesting theme for the challenge. Add black. Black is very powerful. Of course white is too, but black is special. I might have played on safe cards this time, but it was very relaxing. Bet I´ll do this again this week. I love black. I hardly can be without it. I concentrated on the shading as well and managed to take one pic before and one after shading.

I like to see what difference shading makes to a drawing. Here it is so obvious! The depth after shading is striking! I am happy for the result. The patterns are: Ipso (Jennifer Hohensteiner), Crux (Henrike Bratz) and Fugu (Sonya Yencer). I also used string 112.

very nice dramatic tile with beautiful use of black.
What a difference with or without shadow!!!
Now we see, we can't never again making a tile without shadow.

Lovely piece! I especially love what you did with "Crux". The added rivets make it look Steampunk. Well done!

Thank you for sharing your before and after shading tiles. It is very interesting to see what a difference it makes. When I saw the first one, I thought "Nice tile". But, after seeing the one with the shading, I thought "Nice tile. Even better with the shading."

Thank´s for your supportive and warm comments. This before- and after-pics is so good to do, because I learn a lot myself doing it. When I remember to do it. I like to do a zentangle without interruption and then it is difficult to stop taking pics. Maybe if I use my iphone on the before-pics I can make it work. When I work with my paintings I am used to do it just because I learn a lot from looking at the process!

A lovely tile and so fun to see the before and after with the shading. The shading really brings the tile alive.

A 'wow' from me too. As always, such a huge difference before and after shading.
