Dingsplatz and IAST285

I have been having fun with Dingsplatz for a couple of days along with the Way Bop-thing. This is an easy technique to limit the work-space. Rick and Maria demonstrates how to do this in a video you find here. It is addictive and it is very relaxing. So when Adele Bruno asked for Dingsplatz in her challenge no. 285 it was right up in my alley!

This one I made on a rennaissance-tile a week ago and in the center I used Fragment D23. Then a lot of orbs, Crescentmmon and some Fescu.

This one is from my Cappucino-journal (which I like very much, the paper is of a kind that makes it possible to work on both sides of a page). In the center I used Spoken and Striping. Then Crescentmoon again and orbs and auras.

My latest Dingsplatz for IAST 285. In the center Fragment E25, Then Shattuck and Betweed and Orbs.

I love to do them. They just land on the paper/tile or whatever I draw on!

I am the Diva´s Challenge 380

Laura Harms has run her blog 8 years now! Amazing! She is celebrating this with a challenge based on circles. As I am quite busy right now I had to go for a quickie, since I wanted to celebrate this! And Zenbuttons are so fun to do, invented by Marguerite Samama! Here is my Zenbutton on a cardstock selfcut tile:

Congratulations Laura! Hope you will go on for another 8 years! By the way, I used  Sakura micron: pink and burgundy.

Calendar 4th-9th of December

I belive the red spots is pointing out December as the month of Christmas. Can´t help thinking in that direction. The patterns: Florz, Zenith, Icantoo (Hanny Nura), Icanthis, Bales var. Ing, Locar and Ipso (Jennifer Hohensteiner). About the last three days with Ing: After the seminar there was another gathering of CZT:s called Zenagain. I wasn´t there, but after that I saw some wonderful Ing variations and I kept those in mind since I wanted to give Ing a round with fragments this time. I loved to do that, using fragmens from the Zentangle Primer.

Diva´s challenge 369

Only doing this with orbs, circles! This challenge is all about orbs. What is more like orbs than Tipple! Here is my entry:

And what is more orb-like than doing a zenbutton!?! I enjoyed this challenge and I love to do orbs in all kind of ways. Also some Printemps wanted to play. Thank you Laura for one more special challenge! Now I am ready for bed and tomorrow morning I am going to visit my granddaughters!

Zenbuttons and My Tile 2

Zenbutton is a quite new word in Zentangle World. Marguerite Sammama brought it up. Here is the background and how to do it!

I practiced on Bijou some time ago, during the Valentangle-period, but didn´t get hooked. I have seen a lots of beautiful buttons around which made me want to give it a go one more time. This time I didn´t think button at all, but reticula and fragments. Which happened to be the clue. Yes I have read Marguerites guide before and I knew where she got the idea from. But it just didn´t speak to me. This time I made it on a tan tile 8,9x8,9 cm, which I had got from my friend Marie Penzing. I have run out of rennaisance tiles...
Don´t exactly know what was the difference this time, but I didn´t think much of the result but focused on one stroke at a time. Oh there was an Oops! I appreciated this Oops, it led me into another direction, making my Chop as a fragment on the button! I think I will use it some other time, it was fun! The fragments I used on this Button are: G23, D16, C4, V5 and Lisbon Fragment (Henrike Bratz). So happy with this button I had to do one more the next day:

Well I have ran out of rennaisance tiles and I am looking for substitutes, since the originals are not easy to get in Sweden. I took a cardstock from the back of a watercolorpad which is accid-free. It is heavyweight though and with a hard surface. My cutting-machine didn´t like it at all. I forced it to cut though and now it has got a terribly squeezing sound when I touch it! It maybe kills my cutter but I loved this surface a lot and the pens didn´t have any problem with it.
This time I used the fragments: T5, K3, H16 and Chrissie Frampton´s fragment from her pattern Jackstripes. Instead of using a fragment in the center I made a little gem, which I don´t draw often.

Today´s meditation. I wanted to do one more for My-tile-project. I wanted to try it on a black tile, which was really fun! My firs tile you find here.

Tangles of my choice except for the month:
And (Sandra Harsveld) : Anita
Wacho (Livia Chua): Westin
Cubine (Zt) : August
Tipple (Zt) : Favouritetangle

I am thinking of using this concept further on but not referring to myself. It is such a good concept, I love it. Thank´s to Nancy Domnauer who came up with the idea!

28th - 30th of July and Poa

Summertangles 28th, 29th and 30th.  So happy Pach (Jody Okava) came by. This was a favourite when I learned it, but now almost forgotten! This tangle is so fun!! And the next one Scallamp (Sarah Uram) is also a happy one! Then came the zenbutton-day. Hm. Though I have tried this I haven´t really been hooked. Why on earth, this is really fun! What made me change my mind was, I started to think about it as a reticula-fragment play. Yes I have read the instructions several times, but it didn´t settle down in me. But pof! All of a sudden I didn´t worry about a thing, not the outcome, just thinking reticula and fragments I liked. This was a happy moment!

Tonight I made my daily tile. I played with Poa (Marion Kreutzweg) in my sketchbook a couple of days ago:

It was quite fun but I wasn´t happy with it. Poa is the focustangle in Square One. Anya Ipsen had made a beautiful tile featuring this pattern. But where is my Poa? Well I trusted the method and picked up an original tile and went on...dots in the corners, penciled line and a string picked from the air... Here is my tile:

I am happy with it. It is all about Poa and fragment C12. The process was the important way to do it. And you know what! As I look at it now, I remember when I was a teenager, wanting to be an artist! There is something in this tile that is similar to what I did then, working on very big drawings in a surrealistic manner!  I was not prepared for this experiance.

25th-27th of July and My Tile

Summer Tangles still going on!
25th: Groovy (Helen Hunt) with friends: Asian Fans (Suzanne McNeill), Jetties and Jonqual, both Zt.

26th: Kuzek (Laura Harms) and some related wild Cadent in the numbers.
27th: Microtangleday! Haven´t gon in this direction before. I usually go into Macrotangling when I have a chance! I went to my box with left over pieces from my cutting my own tiles from Fabriano Tiepolo. And there it was, a tiny little tile just waiting to get the chance! I glued it into my calendar and started with Lisbon-fragment (Henrike Bratz) and filled it with Onomato and something Static-like. Then I Mashed (Lori Byerly) it all in, since there was a lot of emptyness around.

For #mytileproject Nancy Domnauer (Line Dot Calm) I did this one:

Z-string. 1. Arukas (Anita), 2. Well (Westin), 3. Cubine (August) and 4. Ginilli (Randy Wynne Parry), a favouritepattern of mine. The last one was tricky. To choose my favouritepattern when I have got so many favourites! At last I choose Ginilli, which I haven´t used for some time now, but this pattern is absolutely wonderful to draw!

4th-6th of April

Working with Fragments is so interesting. Here we go again: small changes makes a lot of difference.  I love this.
4th of April: Trisade Fragment (Staub Korn).
5th-6th of April: I felt that i had not given Marguerite Samama´s fragment enough attention and this little fragment is so versatile and can have  a lot of appearances. I guess I am not finished yet with this one, it will come back!

1st-3rd of April and Elatorium challenges

I am not often talking about weather. But during Eastern we have had days with bright warming sunshine and cold nights. The snow is now melting daytime and freezing by night. A promise about spring is in the air though we can walk on the hard surface of the snow covering the fields around here. I can see how this has affected my latest page in the calendar! I used Paradox as a string as well as a pattern, inspired by Margaret Bremner´s illustration for this month. Peace Petals (Sandy Kelley Jones) is the promise of spring coming. Then Crusade (Wayne Harlow) and Trisade-fragment (Tangleation of Crusade by Staub Korn) are breaking Ice and Shattuck is also coming with the springthing.

When I see my patterns used in challenges and/or by other tanglers I get so excited. I appreciate it very much, it is like connections with others get visible. I just love it. 2 challenges recently has been with my patterns Ezpei and Lenche. These are found in ELATORIUM at Fb. The first one was Ezpei together with Ruutz (Eni Oken) and Garlic Cloves (Jacquelien Bredenoord). You find it here. My entrance is made on a recycled watercolorpainting.

So satisfying to make something on old watercolor I don´t want to see any more!

Next challenge with Lenche, Wall Break (Tina Kirchhübel) and Olspin (YuRu Chen) you find here.

And here is mine:

Wall Break I first tried when Tina published the steps on Flickr and I did like it a lot so I was so happy Ela choose this pattern together with Lenche! Olspin was new to me but I like the playfulness of this one and I will get back to it for sure. Thank´s Ela for doing this! You also find the challenges at Elatorium were you also find the wonderful resourse Musterquelle!

22nd-27th of March and something colorful!

Revisiting tangles!
22nd: 2n5 by Anita Roby Lavery. Like this playful pattern a lot! So simple and yet so cool to play with!
23rd-27th: Can´T by Chris Titus. First time I met Can´T was in a challenge, I think it was Adele Bruno´s It is a string thing! I was thrilled by the way this pattern seems so different depending on the shading. I didn´t try rounded corners then, but now I did an it was totally something else I saw coming out of the pen! So much fun! I belive Can´T is now going to stay with me!

I have been away a couple of days enjoying to sing Pergolesi´s Stabat Mater in the church of Rasbo. Ofcourse I brought my tangle-kit with me. I used one tile I cut out of a large marbeled sheet of heavy-weight paper that I have kept for years.

Since I have bee busy rehersing Pergolesi I haven´t had the time to try two resent published techniques published by Maria and Rick in the zentangle-app. The first one was to tangle Molygon in a string which looks like a creepy thing going around the tile! I love the little dangerous look of this shape! Then I went for the Cadent-tangleation whick I do appreciate a lot! Some Tipple and Fescu also came along. This is my Happy Eastern tile for all of you!

I am the Divas challenge 354 and calendarpage 7th-9th of March

I start with the calendar since the Diva´s challenge starts there!

On the 7th I try Siri (Simone Menzel) for the very first time. She describes this pattern in her blog as an inspiration from Ria Matheussen´s pattern Zimba. There are similarities but still different. It is a kind of Fragment too so for the 8th I wanted to try Marguerite Samama´s newly found fragment and today  I used 8DoubleC ( Maria-Lisa Kolic).

And here comes my tile for the Diva´s challenge 354:

I used Siri for a border as Simone suggested in her blog and then I put Marguerites fragment in the center. Therefore (Zt) was made with white gellypen to nail the black stuff in the corners. I had a lot of fun with this one though I had to leave it for a while and come back to see the result! It was so different than I had expected! And I love surprises!

torsdag 15 februari 2018

10th-15th of February

I went on playing with corners and focustangle in the middle. 10th-11th, I choose random tangles with the help from Lynn Shelton Mead´s Tangledeck. Bales, Knightsbridge and Cubin was the resultof this.

13th-14th included Valentines day on Wednesday so hearts were in focus these three days.
13th: Skelter (Debbie Raen) and a Fragment I made up for the Valentangle 2018 initiated by Marguerite Samama.
14th: Heartline (Helen Williams)
15th: Fragment made up by Susan Kelley Pundt.

Yes I participated in the Valentangle 2018. Fourteen days with hearts! It was fun and I learned a lot. In my next post I will have pics and comments from this event.

Duo-colored surface and rescue tile part 2

One more round to gowith the duo-colored surface, since there was one more tile left out of the first one! Here it is:

I realize I should have taken a before-pic before I cut the tile in parts with the tan tile. I didn´t. If the first one was fun to do, this one was even more! I used Fragment Y4 (from Zentangle Primer; very useful fragment), Eye-Wa (Zt), Florz(Zt) and Knightsbridge (Zt). It is so satisfying to rescue tiles and give them a new life! I also put the two tiles together to see if something happened here:

And yes they can match eachother. Not a perfect match maybe, but good enough! This is a wonderful technique, learned from the Project Pac 2, which was a part of #12DaysofZentangle! I´ll find out a way to use this working with my other collages.

Fragment Y4 and more

I try to make a daily tile every day, but sometimes it just ends with doing my calendar. But when I do it I appreciate to be able to have this special moment. When I do it on a Zentangle original tile it is like having a little party. A friend of mine send me a pack of original white tiles for christmas, which means I can do this more often. The difference between the originals and my own handcut tiles from the same quality paper, Fabriano Tiepolo, are mainly the uneven edges. Such a detail means a lot when I tangle and I cannot fix this detail on my own (I doubt I could get the same result with the help of my washing machine! :) ). As Rick sometimes says, commenting  videos from Zentangle.com, there are just small details that makes the whole difference.

I love working with geometrical patterns and today I couldn´t stop myself. Started with dots in the corners and penciled line conecting them, Fragment Y4 from the Zentangle Primer, Veez (Margaret Bremner), Riki-Tiki (Renee King) and finally Sez (Zt). Well Veez lived a life of it´s own and I am not sure it looks like Veez any more, which isn´t important. I had an intention to leave some empty space, but it didn´t work that way today. That is of no importance either, since the process was what it was all about.

3rd tile for Diva´s challenge 347!

Had to go for one more. Stringtheory. I guess after this I will be able to do strings on freehand again and maybe doing them in an other direction?? I had a lot of fun doing all three of them! Here is my string:

My scissors again, my corner-punch and a lid from a pigment-jar. And here is my tangling:

Riki-Tiki (Renee King), Diva Dance, Pokeroot and fragment Y4 from the Zentangle Primer.

Cativia

Ashton, 6 year old, created a wonderful tangle called Cativia. It is now the focustangle in Square One! Here comes the step-out as published in Square One:

Sure I had to try this! Easy to learn with many possibilities!

I used the dots in the corners, the Z-string and then tangled. Basics. I love the basics. And I still love the string-thing. Cativia was followed by Citrus (Adele Bruno), Eddyper(?), or something similar and a fragment. I had a nice time doing this!

About Prompts + 1st-3rd of December

Right now in early December, the busiest month of the year, I find prompts for tangling very useful. In today´s tangles Sandy Kelley Jones have made some prompts for 1-12 of December and even if I maybe don´t do everyone, I want to do as many as I can. I am one day behind already but the prompt for 2nd of December seemed so fun to do I didn´t want to miss it! Here comes the first one:

1: Use the first tangle I ever did. Don´t know exactly if this was the first one. But anyhow, one of the very early recognizable tangles I did was Hollibaugh!
2: Use the latest tangle: That was easy! Veez by Margaret Bremner!
3: Use a tangle I want to make friends with. There are some but I choose Swarm, which is a tangle that confuses me a lot.
4: Use a bold tangle: What could be more bold than Schway!!!

Here comes the one for yesterday:

I won´t explain this, but the prompt is soooo fun! The patterns I used: Veez (Margaret Bremner), Hypnotic (Elena Hadzijaneva), Papermint (Sandy Hunter), Dewd and `NZeppel. First I thought I should leave the open space in the middle, but then I had to Papermint it! So much fun! Thank´s Sandy!

And the calendarpage:

1st of December: I used the Z-fragment Carole Ohl suggested which I liked a lot. But now we are closer to X-mas, so Ipso (Jennifer Hohensteiner) also wanted to come! 2nd and 3rd: Swarm. The tangle I want to make friends with. We are not there yet but much closer!

1st, 2nd and 3rd of october and Diva´s challenge 335

The suggestion for October was fragment D16 from the Zentangle Primer. A fun start which immediately made me think of Well, Well,Well, the latest published Kitchen Table Tangles in the Zentangle Mosaic-app. So that was an obvious continuation on the 2nd and the 3rd of October. It is such a nice tangleation of the original Zentangle Well! A lot of fun is to be created with this I belive!

This morning I went on with the Diva´s challenge no 335. Tint (Henrike Bratz) is the UMT for this month. I have tried it once and I loved to get back to it! It is a pretty tangle and a tangle that could be used in many ways, a Ribbon, a Frame or whatever!  I love it! Here is my entry:

I was thinking of using other tangles with it but as I went on, I realized that Tint wanted something else! A monotangle was the result!

måndag 4 september 2017

1st, 2nd and 3rd of September

I started this month with Carole Ohls suggested fragment T4. I did it without checking Primer 1 and tried Carole´s version. It didn´t go my way so I checked the Primer and then I liked it better. Still this fragment was a challenge.

2nd: I wanted to play with Quabog (Zt), I had seen Sandy Kelley Jones do it and I thought it could work with the Diva´s challenge but I had to try it first. I liked it this way, like a sun spreading the warmth to us.
3rd: Printems and BtlJoos together and something I don´t know what it could be but inspired by the sunfeeling the day before.

Petoskey stones

Jane Reiter is guestblogger for the Diva this week.  Her challenge is different from others. I have never heard of Petoskey Stones before. It is such a beautiful thing she tells us about! Go to the blog and have a look here!  Here are som pics  (closeups) of the Petoskey Stones:

As you can see the patterns are pentagones and hexagones.

Jane asked us to make a tile inspired by the Petoskey Stones. First I made a little Bijou:

I choose to work with the pentagone, since I never use to do that! I havent used ecoprinted tiles before either! The pattern is Quabog (Zt). The next one is on a regular tile 8,9x8,9 cm:

This one is also on ecoprint paper (Fabriano Tiepolo). I went on with Quabog, I did like this easy and flexible pattern, which I have tried once or twice. The other patterns are Zinger, Tripoli and Tipple, all Zt. This challenge was different and so interesting to do! I think I won´t forget about Petoskey Stones. Ever. Thank´s to Jane Reiter!
