Icantoo and EAXY.

A pattern new to me is the focustangle in Square One. Hanny Nura was inspired by Icanthis (Zt) and deconstructed this pattern. Might be seen as a tangleation of Icanthis.

My first tile. As I started to try it with auras, this just went on and took over the thing. But I liked the result, though it might be a little busy.

My second went like this also with auras but in another direction. Icantoo has settled down in my toolbox to stay. It is such a joyful pattern and I smile as I look at it.

I also revisited a pattern I do like a lot: EAXY. I have a lot of tiles cut from old watercolors and I love to se what happens when I tangle on them. This time I remembered to take a before-pic of the tile!

A perfect string! And here is the final result:

EAXY (Nadine Roller) with Citrus (Suzanne McNeill). This watercolor-paper (I belive it is from Archer) is a little rough and not so easy to draw on with my pens. I had to work harder with the tourtillon. EAXY is so interesting to draw, I never get it even but this doesn´t bother me since it is such a forgiving pattern! As I have done this I see more ways to go with it.....

Gottago, my calendar and recycling

There are patterns and patterns. So many pops up all the time. Sometimes there will be a pattern that speaks more to me then others. I found one like that when I saw a post from Laura Byerly. I had seen Gottago (Lianne Woods) before but now I saw the posibilities! I had one more watercolorbackground from Gerd Vading that was waiting for this!

I almost forgot to take a before-pic, but here it is taken i not too good light!

I loved this little piece of a watercolor!

And here is my last finished calendarpage:

Following the Summertangles18: Fiore (Jana Rogers), Trix (Lucy Farray) and Zonked (Barbara Finwall).

Today I recycled one more watercolor-tile:

Quare (Beth Snodderly), Squared Cadent (Margaret Bremner), Fassett (Lynn Shelton Mead), Shira (Marguerite Samama), Echoism (Zt) and Eke (Zt).
We have extreme temperature outdoors, +30C in the shadows, so I am lucky to have the coolest place in my studio!

1st-3rd of April and Elatorium challenges

I am not often talking about weather. But during Eastern we have had days with bright warming sunshine and cold nights. The snow is now melting daytime and freezing by night. A promise about spring is in the air though we can walk on the hard surface of the snow covering the fields around here. I can see how this has affected my latest page in the calendar! I used Paradox as a string as well as a pattern, inspired by Margaret Bremner´s illustration for this month. Peace Petals (Sandy Kelley Jones) is the promise of spring coming. Then Crusade (Wayne Harlow) and Trisade-fragment (Tangleation of Crusade by Staub Korn) are breaking Ice and Shattuck is also coming with the springthing.

When I see my patterns used in challenges and/or by other tanglers I get so excited. I appreciate it very much, it is like connections with others get visible. I just love it. 2 challenges recently has been with my patterns Ezpei and Lenche. These are found in ELATORIUM at Fb. The first one was Ezpei together with Ruutz (Eni Oken) and Garlic Cloves (Jacquelien Bredenoord). You find it here. My entrance is made on a recycled watercolorpainting.

So satisfying to make something on old watercolor I don´t want to see any more!

Next challenge with Lenche, Wall Break (Tina Kirchhübel) and Olspin (YuRu Chen) you find here.

And here is mine:

Wall Break I first tried when Tina published the steps on Flickr and I did like it a lot so I was so happy Ela choose this pattern together with Lenche! Olspin was new to me but I like the playfulness of this one and I will get back to it for sure. Thank´s Ela for doing this! You also find the challenges at Elatorium were you also find the wonderful resourse Musterquelle!

Some Daily tangles and the Diva´s challenge

Eye-Wa (Zt) and Zedbra (Margaret Bremner/Laura Harms) works well as Drama-tangles for the prompt in "Today´s Tangles". Actually this was my first round with Eye-Wa! But it won´t be my last, since this tangle was so fun and easy to do!

Another one for the prompt: Echoism (Zt) as a string and a favourite of mine; Cubine.

And now for I am the Diva´s challenge 344:

Afterglo (Carole Ohl), Ipso (Jennifer Hohensteiner) and `NZeppel. I did this on an Echo-diyed tile. Afterglo is one of those patterns I did love from the start and used quite a lot for some time but then I almost forgot it.

Calendar 22nd-24th of October and some other things going on.

First about my calendar. As I have been visiting lovely Östhammar and "Ordfestivalen", my time for the calendar wasn´t to much. Returning to it trying to catch up I felt a little bit bored for the first time. Why? Thinking about this I realized that it has to do with routine. To keep up the calendar I think I need the routine; each morning spend some time doing my "day". As I couldn´t do this for a couple of days I lost the motivation a little. But I am back. Yesterday I made the three last days and decided to make it very simple, just doing Dingbatz:

As I had done my three Dingbatz (doesn´t take long to do) I felt like Meer needed to go on a little bit more. I felt like this was ok and yes I could find a satisfaction to make this again. So todays calendarpage I was back into my morning-preparation for the day!

This blog is not supposed to be about journaling. But I have always liked the thing with journaling. Now I have taken my first steps on the journaling-road and it is great fun. So I want to share my first experiences with you!

The upper pic, I glued my inspiration (Papertissue!) on the left page. On the below pic you can see my #inktober - #pinktober stuff. The colored paper glued here is made by a friend of mine who makes a lot of Eco-prints!

To the last goodie for today! I finished a travelling tangle from my friend Sue Zanker yesterday. The surface of this tile is made with the shaving-foame technique and now I learned how it should be! The surface was so smooth and gentle to work on! I think I want to try this technique further on because of her lovely result. But I have to get me some odourless shaving foam instead of the one I got from the grocery last try. That one smelled terribly and I couldn´t stand it!  Here is our collaboration:

This is Sue´s lovely start!

And here is my final result. I really enjoyed this! Sue had started with a tangle called Wibble and I went on with C-rependity (Veena Arun), Ginili (Randi Wynne-Perry) and some Fescues. As I tangled on I wanted to get the Wibble more in focus so I added Gold and some watercolor. I loved to do this! Thank´s Sue for the experience!

Petoskey stones

Jane Reiter is guestblogger for the Diva this week.  Her challenge is different from others. I have never heard of Petoskey Stones before. It is such a beautiful thing she tells us about! Go to the blog and have a look here!  Here are som pics  (closeups) of the Petoskey Stones:

As you can see the patterns are pentagones and hexagones.

Jane asked us to make a tile inspired by the Petoskey Stones. First I made a little Bijou:

I choose to work with the pentagone, since I never use to do that! I havent used ecoprinted tiles before either! The pattern is Quabog (Zt). The next one is on a regular tile 8,9x8,9 cm:

This one is also on ecoprint paper (Fabriano Tiepolo). I went on with Quabog, I did like this easy and flexible pattern, which I have tried once or twice. The other patterns are Zinger, Tripoli and Tipple, all Zt. This challenge was different and so interesting to do! I think I won´t forget about Petoskey Stones. Ever. Thank´s to Jane Reiter!

Happy Birthday IAST! And triangles in my calendar.

Isn´t this amazing! Adele Bruno has challenged tanglers all over the world for four years now! IAST Happy birthday to you! Every birthday adds one more candle to the string. Here is my happybirthdaytile for IAST 208.

The patterns for the celebration are: Trella (Adele Bruno), Copada (Margaret Bremner), Wud (Joni Feddersen) and Knightsbridge (Zt). I colored this tile with micron and watercolor. It took me some time to figure out where to start and how to make this. Then I decided to skip the planning and started with my favouriteborder, Wud. This is what came out. All patterns Adele wanted us to use are there! I am surprised!

In my calendar I tried to use patterns with triangles only the last three days. I love triangles and very often I come back to triangles as I paint. It also happens that Marguerite Samama is the guestblogger for the Diva´s challenge and she chose a fragment as a challenge. Fragment D1. As I thought about it I immediately saw that it would be perfect for my little triangle-play! So this will be my first entry on that challenge!

16th of August: Impossible triangles, Fragment D1 from Zentangle Primer and Knase.
17th of August: Fragment D1, D11, `NZeppel and Munchin.
18th of August: Tringle (Lara Williams) and `NZeppel.

Tringle was all new to me, I found it here.

Diva Dancing in Lisbon

Henrike Bratz, guestblogger on Diva´s challenge, recently visited Lisbon and was fascinated by the patterns she saw on tiles there. I haven´t been to Lisbon, but I have been to places where they have such beautiful tiles on the walls, on the floor, in the bathroom and other places. I know what she is talking about. One of the patterns she has deconstructed and called it The Lisbon fragment. Here is a pic of the pattern:

Museu Nacional do Azulejo, Lissabon

And when you clic here you come to her steps. She asked us to use Diva Dance together with her fragment and the theme is Diva dancing in Lisbon! A wonderful theme. Here comes my entry for this challenge:

Yes. I made it on one of my recycled watercolortiles. I choose this one because I thought of the light at night in a place were people dances somewhere at the Atlantic coast... Maybe Lisbon. Now I have to go back to my photos from Maroc and such places....

I am the Diva´s weekly no 326 with guestblogger Elisa Murphy!

Elisa Murphy asked us to draw a monotangle with ´N Zeppel. As drawing it we should remember the feeling of not fitting in. Or a person struggling with  the -not-fitting-in- situation. Read more about it here.

I made two tiles. This came first:

Me thinking of my youth. The feeling of not-fitting-in was strong. I wanted to but couldn´t. It is nothing unusual in this, a lot of people have this experience. But it was like a relief to draw a tile and visualize it like this.
Then the second one:

This is my today. The ground, quite steady, is there and I am conscious about it. My mother went her own way and now I am doing the same. After looking at this tile I decided to add some blue watercolor. Very lightly.

It was very meditative and relaxing to do this challenge. I am glad I did it! Thank´s Elisa Murphy!

Experiments and challenges.

The first one today I made on a recycled watercolor painting. On both my tiles I combined Made by Joey´s challenge with guestblogger Susie Ng and I am the Diva´s guestpost Jessica Davies. The recycled one came out like this:

This might be more focus on Peanuckle than on Asian Fans (Suzanne McNeill). But Asian Fans are there like a shelter for Peanuckles I think and then Marnie (Chrissie Frampton) also took place. I regret my try with the shading with Distress markers here, they didn´t work the way I intended. But I kind of like it anyway.
Then the next tile:

Here is my experiment. I have seen  something called Tranzending. As I understand it, it is like getting a pattern look transparant and let another pattern show through it. Well I worked hard on getting it look like something today, using Asian Fans over Peanuckle. I can´t tell if  my try  worked or not, but it was an experience. The technique was demonstrated on a seminar with Maria and Rick and ofcourse I wasn´t there so I had to guess how to do it.

Recycling again

Going on with recycling watercolorpaintings! I like to do this. It is a nice feeling to make something of paintings I looked at as a failure. Something that can´t be a failure. Because when you tangle nothing is a failure, just a possibility!

As I opened Fb this morning I found out that a friend and tangler, Ela Rieger has her birthday and looking at the tile I wanted to make this one to celebrate her. And it came out like a birthday-cake I think! With berries and candies and things in between. No I didn´t plan this, I only had her birthday in mind tangling! The patterns are: Flez (Lori Howe),Nobbless (Jane Nichols), Schlingl (Ela Rieger), Hearts4G (mine), Fescu and Florz. The string is the old painting.

Diva´s challenge UMT 320: Dansk

I have met Dansk before but not tried it. At the first sight it is similar to a lot of other patterns done with auras. But as I tried it this time I found out it can be a quite useful pattern! I started doing it on a stone I found on our vacation up in the mountains!

The stone to the left is with Dansk, the one to the right is with Ziggle (Chase Messineo) and some golden Tipple (Zt).

Today I finished my tile on a tile from recycled watercolor-painting:

I used Dansk (Margaret Bremner), Wheelz (Joyce Block), Poke Root (Zt) and Poke Leaf (Zt). The string is the background watercolorpainting.

Daily tangles and Diva´s challenge 317

I have been away, visiting my Dad far north of Sweden. I have been tangling ok, though no posts. A nice thing happened; my Dad has been through a surgery and his lifemate is of course concerned and worried about his health and recovery. When she saw me tangeling she wanted to try it. I taught her a couple of basic patterns an she liked it very much! I belive she found a way to relax and leave her anxiousness for a moment! Here are my tiles from the visit (drawn with my Lamy pen):

No 1: Showgirl (Vicki Bassett) meets Signalz (Bev Ripps)

No 2: Signalz, Paizel (Angie Vangalis), Sandswirl (Karry Heun), Antidots (Anita Roby-Lavery), Papz (mine) and Tipple.

No 3: Papz, Signalz and So Deceiving (Jutta Gladnigg). As I did this one I found out that Linda Farmer has published my pattern Papz on her site, tanglepatterns.com. So happy she did!

 No 4: Signalz monotangle.

As I arrived safely at home I found out about the challenge no 317 from the Diva! This was a quite different challenge! Before retirering I was a teacher and one task I used among children and adults was this: I gave them a piece of a photography and told them to use whatever they wanted but make that piece a part of their own painting/drawing. Now the Diva wanted us to use a photo for tangling. Here is mine:

I used a recycled tile (from an old watercolorpainting) again and cut out a part from a photo I took maybe two years ago. Then I tangled it using: Dreamdex (Debbie New), Fassett (Lynn Shelton Mead), Tri-Bee (Beate Winkler), Flux, Tipple and Flukes. First I didn´t know what this would be like but working on it (not giving it up) I really liked it! It was different but fun!

Striping the Diva´s challenge

Striping is a challenge I remember from last year. It isn´t about the pattern Striping, it is about using tangles in a striping way as I think about it. So here comes my entry this time:

Well yes, I took a before pic. Before shading and highlighting.

After shading and highlighting. This is made on a piece from an old watercolorpainting. Recycled Fabriano heavyweight watercolorpaper. I love this paper though I have to use thicker pens than on original tiles since the surface is quite different. I didn´t use the distress markers for the shading this time, I only went on with watercolor and graphite. The patterns are: Paizel (Angie Vangelis), Sula (Susan Kelley Pundt), Lealad (Lily Moon), Tattle (Milde Weiss), Nekton and Crescent Moon. I am still happy about the idea of recycling my old sins!

Molygon

I am the Diva´s challenge this week is the tanglepattern Molygon. I decided to give it a round, though I´ve not liked my result when I have tried it earlier. It looks so easy and it is easy to learn. I have seen other tanglers making amazing things with this pattern. It is fun to draw. But it is something that causes me trouble. So I wanted to give it a chance once again. I started to put it in a Dingbaz:

The Molygon is so small here but anyhow it needed some embellishment. The striping made it look like worms of a kind. I like the Dingbatz-idea so I am pleased with this. Next one is with watercolor:

I didn´t want to add other tangles, I wanted to keep it simple. As I did this I saw that Molygon is a tangle that doesn´t stand on its own without embellishments, at least when I do it. Maybe it will if I blow it up....But it is still fun to draw.

Then I made this:

I filled most of them with Indyrella. This time it went a little more 3D. The last one:

I liked this one better than the others. Before I did this I looked att Melinda Barlow´s video, which helped a lot. I was more satisfied this time with the result and maybe Molygon will become a friend of mine one day.

I am the Diva´s weekly challenge 314

The UMT this month is about Scallamp (Sarah Uram). UMT means Use My Tangle and is a recurrent challenge from the Diva. This is fun, it is a way to find unexpected patterns and Scallamp is such a pattern. I went on recycling the same watercolorpainting as last week.

As the grang is rough (surface of the watercolorpaper), it is quite difficult to use Micron 0,1. I started this with the Micron but than I grabbed my Lamy Fountainpen, which worked so good on this surface! One problem though, I forgot that the ink from the fountainpen isn´t waterproof! So shading with my distress marker almost went into a mess!the rest of the shading is graphite for that reason and I used white charcoal and white gellypen for highlitning.

Except Sallamp I used Ruutz (Eni Oken), 5C Aura an 5C Wrapped (both Ina Sonnenmoser)

From this I learned, that I´ll look for some old watercolorpaintings with fine grang to recycle!

One more for the Divas Amandaday-challenge

I love recycling. I use it very much in my art. So I wanted to make one more for Earth Day and for the Diva´s challenge this week. When I have done something that I don´t like at the moment, I don´t throw it away.  I keep it for further use. I have some watercolors kept in a pile and now I cut up one (on heavyweight watercolor-paper)  in tile-size and tangled on it! As it was a quite big watercolor-painting, I have a lot of tiles from this! Here is the first one:

The surface is not as smooth as on original tiles but it worked and I get a good feeling to remake an old watercolor-painting in this way!

The patterns are: 5C Aura (Ina Sonnenmoser), Andromeda (Lily Moon), Lealad (Lily Moon) and something that is the beginning of Amphora (Lily Moon).

One more for the Diva´s 300

I was inspired by Ilse´s 3z in the Diva´s challenge so I needed to try one myself!

I wanted to keep it simple this time using Artoo (Laura Harms) and Drawings (Zt) and I liked the outcome. I just didn´t have time to think, just to draw it.

fredag 27 januari 2017

26th of January and I am the Diva´s challenge no 300

I want to go on with Mooka to learn more about the possibilities. Today with Shattuck, Ix and Tipple, all zentangles.

Now to the challenge of the Diva. No 300 is special. It is a celbration of course! Here you can read all about it and see all the beautiful entries!. If it wasn´t for Laura Harms blog and her challenges I wouldn´t have known anything about Moebius Syndrome. Here are my two entries for this challenge:
I found it quite tricky to include the Moebius logotype. First I wasn´t satisfied with my zendala, but it is like it is and another glanze at it makes it anyway satisfying. The other patterns are: Diva Dance, Fescu, Cubine, Paradox, Echoism and Onamato, all Zentangles.

I also wanted to try it on a marbeled background with the logotype in a smaller size. Here the patterns are: Artoo (Laura Harms), and from Zentangles: Striping, Flux, Tipple, and Diva Dance, I am more satisfied with this tile, since I think the logotype was better executed.
